Chemical peels are used to reduce the appearance of acne scars, pigmentation, lines, and wrinkles.  The skin treatment can be used on the face, neck, and chest.  Chemical peels are true to their name in that the treatment uses chemicals to peel away the top layer of skin.

The skin has a natural exfoliating tendency in which old skin cells fall off and new, healthy ones are exposed.  Applying a chemical peel begins the process of breaking down the bonds between skin cells on the top layer.  This mimics, but speeds up, the process of natural exfoliation.

As the chemical peel is removed, the skin cells are sloughed off.  This reveals the new cells, which are encouraged to rejuvenate themselves in order to heal the skin.  This makes the skin appear smooth, healthy, and younger than before.  However, some may experience continue peeling for some time after the treatment.

By removing the top layer of skin, the treatment is effective in reducing imperfections in the skin.  As the new cells work to replace the old, the appearance of unwanted marks on the skin begins to fade.  More than one treatment is often required to achieve the desired results.  Alpha-hydroxy acid, or AHA, is commonly found in over the counter treatments.  Other chemicals used include phenol, glycolic acid, and trichloroacetic acid.

Chemical peels work with the help of acids within the peel that raise the acidity of the skin to around a 3.8 pH level. Normally, skin has a pH of around 5.5, and changing the pH level chemically loosens the cells that form the “glue” between dead skin and healthy skin.

Using HYDRA-dermabrasion, this resurfacing treatment uses Vortex technology to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate in a 30 or 45 minute treatment. Frequent treatments will restore your skin to its youthful beauty.

You can upgrade your HydraFacial with any of these boosters:

  • Restorative Connective Tissue Growth Factor – to improve fine lines and wrinkles

  • DermaBuilder – anti-aging treatment for fine lines and wrinkles

  • Radiance Britenol – skin brightening treatment

  • Brightalive Booster – skin brightening treatment

  • Rozatrol Booster – for Rosacea

  • Protec Plus Booster – for pigmentation and fights against UVA/UVB damage

You can target anywhere on the face, though we’ve found the most common areas are around the eyes, on the cheeks, and on the chin/jawline, where peach fuzz tends to accumulate.

To maintain your results, schedule your Dermaplaning sessions every 3-4 weeks. Over these weeks, your skin is able to regenerate the uppermost layer with healthier, fresher cells. You’ll also enjoy being totally hair-free for this length of time.

Target areas are:

  • Peach fuzz

  • Rough textures

  • Flakiness

  • Clogged pores

  • Excess oil

  • Superficial spots, blotches and other pigmentation irregularities

  • Mild acne scarring

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Dull tone

RefineU MedSpa provides Microneedling services, using PROCELL soltuions. Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps erase the signs of aging and environmental damage as well as minimize the appearance of scars.

In fact, microneedling is so effective in the treatment of scars that it is regularly recommended as a way to resolve acne scars. A 2012 study found that patients who received just three microneedling sessions for acne scars saw a 31% improvement in skin texture without any residual discoloration or irregular pigmentation!

As the most commonly performed in cosmetic treatment in North America, BOTOX® is considered by most medical professionals as the gold standard in treating wrinkles, creases and lines. BOTOX Cosmetic is the only FDA approved aesthetic treatment for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows (glabellar lines) and wrinkles extending from the outer corners of the eyes (crow’s feet) in adults. The active ingredient in the product is Clostridium botulinum. In small doses, this organism can be incredibly helpful in treating not just cosmetic issues, but those related to health, from chronic migraines to spasticity and stress urinary incontinence.

Because of its amazing effects, it can also be used for the following aesthetic concerns:

  • Sagging and droopy brows
Gently lifting a droopy brow brightens up the eyes and makes you look less tired and angry.

  • Horizontal forehead creases and frown lines
Smoothing away deep lines across the forehead makes you look less angry and more approachable.

  • An overly prominent or square jawline (masseter)
By rounding your jawline, it changes the shape of your face to make it look more feminine and softer.

  • Downturned lip corners
An ever so slight upturning of the lip corners prevents you from looking sad or upset all the time.

  • Prominent platysmal bands in the neck
By relaxing the prominent vertical bands in your neck, you’ll get rid of that “turkey gobbler” look.
